Report on an AMIB sponsored evening at the Ag Hall -- A Leisurely Sail Around Cape Horn March 20th 7 pm. 2015 in the Ag Hall. In 1997 Mayne Island resident, Allen Slade, crewed on Northanger, a 54 ft. steel hulled Damian 2 ketch that went on a 3 week trip around Cape Horn, South America. Allen's trip started from Ushuaia, considered the most southerly city in the world and went east through areas with fabled names such as the Darwin Range and Beagle Channel. |
The Evening
AMIB Pres. Carl Bunnin welcomed everyone, talked a bit about the upcoming AMIB events, and then introduced Allen Slade who presented a travelogue based upon his 1994 sailing trip around Cape Horn.
Our thanks to Allen for putting on an excellent presentation. Thanks also to Toby Snelgrove for his technical assistance, and to the rest of the AMIB executive for their help with setup, registration, and cleanup.
