Rendezvous at Russell Island, July 23rd, 2016
Boats attending:
s/v Toon Town - Sharon & Carl Bunnin and dog Buddy
s/v Bricks - Kathy Kaiser & John Carr
s/v C'est la Vie - Judy & Cliff Kiyooka
s/v Callisto - Fran & Jean-Guy Nadeau, and dog Rosie

First to arrrive on Friday was the Sabre, Toon Town, followed by the Edel,  Bricks.  The CS, C'est la Vie, had to stay at the UK Sails dock in Sidney overnight because they were getting a new main installed.  By the time they arrived Sat. morning the anchorage was filling up.  Last to arrive was the C& C Callisto.  Our group of boats managed to anchor in the same area fairly close to the dock.

Carl, Sharon, Kathy & John, and Buddy went by dinghy to Fulford Harbour in the morning.

Everyone met at the beach for lunch.  Dessert was  Nanaimo bars from Sharon.  Great company and a great view!

After lunch some of us hiked the trails to the historic house, now an information centre,  built by Hawaiian settlers.  We enjoyed talking to the docent who was 4th generation descendant of the Hawaiian settlers.

The Kiyookas got ready to host Happy Hour on C'est la Vie, managing to fit all 8 of us in the cockpit  by temporarily removing the wheel.  Then more food!  The potluck dinner was hosted by the Nadeaus on Callisto.  The main course was Fran's roast lamb plus chili, curry, and pork dishes from guests.
Good weather continued through the night and next morning we said our "Good-byes" and departed.
Our next rendezvous is the third annual Campbell Bay Raftup on Saturday, August 13th.
