July 30th, 2014 Campbell Bay Raft-up
Nineteen boaters in seven boats and 2 kayaks, rafted up at Campbell Bay for an afternoon of grooving', gammin', 'n grillin'.

- s/v Toon Town (Carl and Sharon Bunnin and their seadog, Buddy),
- s/v C'est la Vie (Cliff and Judy Kiyooka, guest June Hamer),
- m/v Napeli (Andy, Carmen and Lizzie Pearson with Ted and Anita Colley),
- s/v Traa Dy Liooar (Richard and Julie Jarco)
- m/v Mayne Event (Neil and Mari Jensen)
- kayakers (Allen Slade and Mary Aikens)
- guests: m/v Bombanero (Lance and Laura), Thunderjet (Toby Snelgrove)
The weather was hot, with clear skies and calm seas. Georgeson Passage was at low tide but everyone from Horton Bay managed to transit it safely. The Jensens came the furthest from Miners Bay but were the first to arrive at Campbell Bay. S/V Toon Town, being the largest boat, anchored with the rest rafting up on either side. In fact, the rafting-up process went very smoothly for all boats.
Probably the highlight of the afternoon was the swimming! Buddy impressed everyone with his dog paddle from boat to shore and back again. Carl showed great form (9/10) diving off his pulpit. Sharon (in green) looked like she was about to dive in, but was really portraying a traditional ship's figurehead.
In attendance:

Carmen, who is known for her love of swimming, looked like a sea-nymph appearing out of the water and about to climb up Toon Town's anchor rode.
Mary and Allen made the trip from Bennett Bay and showed their agility in climbing out of their kayaks onto Traa Dy Liooar, where the newly-weds, Richard and Julie awaited them.
In his Thunderjet, Toby happened by Campbell Bay with a cruising charter and later came back by himself to join the raft-up.
There was lots of food and drink, much visiting back and forth across the boats, a boating crossword puzzle contest, and even some nautical songs.
The party broke up around 7'ish. The Bunnin's decided to take advantage of the beautiful evening and stayed overnight. It was all a lot of fun and we'll do it again, possibly at Montague Harbour on Galiano Island. We'll be in touch with everyone. -CK
