August 13, 2017 - Campbell Bay Raft Up
The weeks of dry, hot weather we had been experiencing decided to take a break the weekend of our Campbell Bay Raft Up. After hearing that winds were forecast 15 - 25 kts along with rain on Saturday, C'est la Vie decided not to come early!

C'est la Vie arrived in Campbell Bay Sunday morning. The weather was still iffy - cool and overcast. Amazingly by noon time it turned warm and the sky was blue.
Eventually 6 boats turned up -- 3 sailboats and 3 motorboats, including Diane's family in their Zodiac.
The theme of the raft up was Canada 150. Some of the boaters were decked out in red and white, the maple leaf flags went up, and Judy passed out cupcakes with white icing and cranberries.
Then there was the blindfold dinghy race. Each team was timed going once around the raft up. A few teams had some difficulty - okay, a lot of difficulty - getting pointed in the right direction, others wandered off course but everyone managed to complete the race without getting dunked. The winning team was Diane and her son, Noah who adopted a back-to-back seating arrangement that seemed to balance the dinghy.
Finally there was a short sing-along with a couple ukes and a guitar with Canadiana such as "This Land of Ours" by Oscar Brand and "Farewell to Nova Scotia".
Good stuff, eh!
